The End of a VERY successful Soccer Season!!

This was Walker's second year playing soccer. He was on the All-Stars for the second year season and they ended up winning the league--UNDEFEATED!! Walker was a great team player and scored his first goal ever this year. Our coaches were Jason Reeves, Billy Jefcoat, Keith Sessions and Brett. Walker was fine taking direction from his dad--you know, sometimes having your daddy for a coach doesn't work out, but it was great for us!! We were so proud of this team and especially of Walker for having great sportsmanship and for playing so well! Here are a few pictures from our last game and the end of the season party. We have been enjoying a wonderful fall break in Orange Beach! We had the chance to run over to the beach and take some pictures before the bottom fell out!! It rained for about 30 minutes but luckily we got some good shots in!

Operation Swimming Pool--OUR FIRST DIP IN THE POOL!!!!

That's right!! We finally got down to the beach for Fall Break and the kids could not wait to get in the pool! The water is actually tolerable--its not too cold at the right time of day. But the boys could care less how cold the water is--they would swim anyway!! Here they are enjoying the fruits of Deeda's labor!!

Halloween Decorations

We are all decorated for Halloween and even though nobody comes down here for candy, at least the house looks cute!!

I made the witch topiaries out of a "FUNKIN" and witches that I found for dirt cheap at TJ Maxx 2 years ago. A FUNKIN is a fake pumpkin!! There are 8 pumpkins on my porch and only 3 are real!! Can you guess which ones?! The antique looking bobblehead things came from TJ Maxx as well. I LOVE a discount when it comes to holiday decor! Terra Cotta had the gorgeous and humongous red mum, the door mat and the iron flower pot kids. I love Terra Cotta. If you haven't been there, you are truly missing out!

2nd Annual Pumpkin Patch Pilgrimage!!

Last year, Elly and I took the kids by ourselves to the Pumpkin Patch in Clanton. This year, we made it a Family and Friends affair! We had a blast and the only thing missing was Lacey. She had a birthday party that she just HAD to go to so the family outing was not for her! I was irritated that she didn't go, but realized it was better to be without her than for her to be with us CONSTANTLY griping. It was win/win for all of us!!

Those in attendance were me, Brett and Walker, Elly, Jason, Will, Drew, Ben and Kate Reeves, Misty, Steven, Cade, Cole, Miles and Hayes Curtis, Jennifer, Ben, Mary Samson, Bess and Benton Dunn, Richelle, Billy, Press and Payne Jefcoat. 5 families with 14 kids among us!!

Priceless Little Johnny Joke!!

Presidential candidate Barack Obama was visiting a primary school and he
stopped in on one of the classes. They were in the middle of a discussion related to words and their meanings. The teacher asked the presidential candidate if he would like to lead the discussion on the word 'tragedy'.

So our illustrious democratic presidential candidate asked the class for an example of a 'tragedy'.

One little boy stood up and offered: 'If my best friend, who lives on a farm, is playing in the field and a tractor runs over him and kills him, that would be tragedy.'

'No,' said Obama, 'that would be an accident.

A little girl raised her hand: 'If a school bus carrying 50 children drove over a cliff, killing everyone inside, that would be a tragedy.'

'I'm afraid not,' explained Obama. 'That's what we would call a great loss.'

The room went silent. No other children volunteered. Obama searched the room. 'Isn't there someone here who can give me an example of a tragedy?'

Finally at the back of the room, Little Johnny raised his hand. In a quiet voice he said: 'If the plane carrying you and Mrs. Obama was struck by a 'friendly fire' missile and blown to smithereens that would be a tragedy.'

'Fantastic!' exclaimed Obama. 'That's right. Can you tell me why that would be tragedy?'

'Well,' says the boy, 'It has to be a tragedy because it certainly wouldn't be a great loss... and it probably wouldn't be a freakin' accident either.'
