We started the pageant roller coaster 2 weeks before the pageant. Lacey has NEVER been in a pageant before and has never had the desire until this year. Her school does this pageant as a fund-raiser for the cheerleaders so this was a great one to start with. We had to buy a dress, have it altered, buy shoes, buy a casual outfit for modeling, and put it all together in record time. We found an awesome dress store, thanks to my friends Mashone Fleming and Kim Stevens. When Kim's daughter was preparing for the National Little Miss Peanut Festival last year, she used this pageant place. The woman was very forthcoming with information and advice and wouldn't hesitate to tell you if something didn't work for you. I was very appreciative of this! She pulled out several dresses for Lacey to try, and the one we choose was one she special ordered for her niece, who ended up not using it. When it was hanging in the bag, it was just kinda, meh. Lacey hesitated, but tried it on just to please me!! I had to BEG her to try it! She ended up loving it and we took it home that day! We had to go back to Dothan 3 times for alterations as we had to turn a size 8 into a size 0! The seamstress did an amazing job and actually did the alterations so we could let them out as she grows! We got so many compliments on the dress, which as you can see, is an non-traditional color. Lacey looked so gorgeous in that dress and the color complimented her dark hair, blue eyes and fair skin beautifully! It was perfect! Our wonderful hair stylist, Rebecca Thomas did her hair and it turned out amazing! I was concerned with it "staying" for 4 hours before the pageant but the hair spray she used kept it fresh and full! We did absolutely ZERO coaching and I barely talked to her about walking, turning, eye contact, etc. In fact, on the way to the pageant, I panicked because we had NOT practiced at home! I was in a panic that I had let her down, but I think my willingness to trust her and not be a crazy pageant mom, made her less nervous and ready to just do it and have fun! I am so proud of her for doing this--winning or not, she really impressed me!

Walker has played baseball and soccer and this year, we decided to give basketball a try. He has a basketball goal at home and loves to shoot with his daddy and anyone else who will play! Brett is the assistant coach and they practice every Tuesday night. Our games are at 8:30 every Saturday morning (which I HATE!!) Setting the alarm clock on a Saturday really angers me, but after we are up and at the games, it is a PERFECT way to start the day! Walker is really a natural at all sports, but his skills in basketball have really been impressive! He can run and dribble with one hand, he can pass, rebound and shoot! In his first game, he scored 6 points and had 15 rebounds! He is a fantastic all-around player and gets better every week! He has fun and has a GREAT attitude!
