It Is SNOWING In South Alabama!!
This is not a sight you see often down here. Yesterday, it was in the upper 60's and today it is SNOWING!! Crazy weather! Elly called us at 7:04am this morning--yes, 7:04am. I looked out the window and saw nothing and went back to sleep. 3 hours later, yes, we slept THAT late, the snow had finally started coming down! I have a horrible ear infection and stayed in the bed all day yesterday, hence one of the reasons I didn't jump out of bed at 7:04am today!! It's 2:05pm and it is still snowing and finally starting to stick. It is supposed to be back up to the 70's by the end of the week. I love snow--it is so pretty, but I am ready for Spring!! Here are some shots of Walker's first substantial snow!!
Its Time for an Update!! February Kept Us Busy!!
February came and went FAST! We continued playing Upward basketball each week and Walker started baseball with Coach Ron Pierce. Lacey continued with gymnastics and cheer prep as she gets ready for cheerleader tryouts in March. One of the most fun things for Walker this month was our outing to Reeves Farm for a little coyote hunting. This story started the last weekend of deer season when Walker asked Brett and Deeda to take him coyote hunting. Of course, that would never happen that weekend so Brett told Walker that coyote season did not start until the weekend after deer season ended! Walker was satisfied! The Sunday after Valentine's Day, we headed out for a little coyote hunting! Deeda had a new toy, an electronic caller that was supposed to lure predators, such as coyotes, or wild hogs was put to the test. We didn't see any coyotes that day, but we didn't exactly go at the right time and the kids were noisy. The kids had so much fun, though!! We ended our Upward season on February 28th with our FIRST WIN!! Walker scored 9 points and played a great defensive game, too. We were just so excited to finally WIN!! Here are some pictures of some of the things we did this month!
Elly's sister-in-law, Amy is getting married on March 7 and she asked Walker to be a part of the wedding. That meant we had to get measured for a "man suit" aka, a tuxedo. Walker and the boys weren't super excited about these man suits, but after trying them on, they got a little more excited!! We went to Montgomery to the doctor the week before Valentine's Day and got measured. Walker was horribly sick that week, with a fever almost everyday. He was pitiful, but we had a good day together that day!
After missing the whole week of school prior to his Valentine's Day party, I took him to school that Friday afternoon to celebrate with his classmates. I was responsible for the cupcakes but Walker decided he wanted a cookie cake instead. I made it myself instead of going back to Montgomery to the Cookie Company. Here is Walker with his class and below a picture of the cookie cake!

After the coyote hunt is determined to be a bust, the kids decide to "play deer" in the field! Notice how their hands look like antlers!
After coyote hunting, the boys play a little football. Walker punts the ball to Drew. Lacey took these pictures and did a great job!
This is our version of "two-hand touch" football! I sure none of you are surprised!
Walker tackles Ben, but I think he has something else planned for him...
Yep! Ben gets a nuggie from Walker!!
In another post, I told you about Journal Bear. He is a bear that gets to go home with a deserving student in Mrs. Huner's class. Well, Mrs. Huner needed someone to take him home and give him a good bath so Walker volunteered! We took him to Walker's basketball game and he watched Walker score 5 out of the 7 points we scored that day. It was a tough game.
Here is Walker shooting a free throw. This was the first time he shot free throws and he made one and missed one. We were very proud of him!
After Walker's basketball game, we went to Montgomery to ice skate with his good friend, Jackson Senn. He was a little nervous at first, but caught on quickly. He asked me to skate with him and I did. I needed the exercise!! Lacey was great at helping him until he was comfortable to go at it on his own!
